Buy a stove-top whistle if mornings lose power. Buy a 1.8 litre electric if your line is stable. Descale both. Ignore glass theatre.

Pakistan is not one electricity story. In parts of Islamabad a 1.8 litre electric kettle is the obvious tool. In a lane that loses power at 6:30, it is a shiny object. We keep a stove-top whistling kettle on the gas even in houses that also own an electric jug. That is not nostalgia. That is breakfast.
Hard water is the real enemy
Lahore, Quetta, and many tube-well lines will chalk a kettle in two weeks. A concealed plate on an electric model is easier to wipe than a coil. A stove-top kettle with a wide lid is easier to brush than a pretty narrow neck. If a listing does not let you imagine a bottle brush inside, skip it. Citric acid sachets are cheaper than a new appliance. We repeat this because people still do not descale, then they say the thermostat is “faulty.”
What we actually picked
The 3 litre whistle is the family tool: gas, load-shedding, a tray of cups. The 1.8 litre Heatwell-style jug is the office and hostel tool: fast, auto-off that we tested, 220V only. The flask is not a kettle. It is how you stop buying canteen tea at 11am. Read those three verdicts; they are longer than this guide on purpose. A guide should send you to a page, not replace it.
Skip the glass showpiece
Glass kettles look like a cafe. They also leak at the water window, crack on a marble edge, and scald more obviously when the wall is transparent and still 100°C. With children, or with a crowded Pakistani counter, opaque and boring wins. Temperature-control kettles are lovely if you brew gyokuro. Most of us are making doodh patti. A rolling boil is the feature.
Voltage and extensions
1800W wants a wall socket. If your kitchen is a power strip of miracles, fix that before you buy a faster kettle. We would rather you boil slower than melt a lead. Surge protectors help in swingy areas; they do not invent watts that are not there at 8pm.

Should I buy both?
If you can: whistle for outages, electric for speed. If you can buy one, match it to your morning electricity, not to an Instagram kitchen.
Is 1800W too much?
On a proper kitchen socket, no. On a cheap extension shared with an iron, yes.
